The Rebecca Everlene Trust Company welcomes Tam & Wags to its list of innovative programs in Chicago. Experience has taught us a lot about people and perceptions. Not all dogs attack. We believe that if people had better experiences with Pit Bulls, maybe the City of Chicago could avoid coming a place that has Breed Specific Legislation (BSL). If a bill like this is passed in Chicago, Pit Bulls won’t be the only dogs that are affected. Rottweilers, Dobermans, American Bull Dogs, and any mix of these breeds will also fall into the same category. Through basic training and behavior, our goal is to show pet owners how to help others see these dogs in a better light and make them a productive part of Chicago households.

Ralph Waldo Emerson humorously joked, “There is one other reason for dressing well, namely that dogs respect it, and will not attack you in good clothes.” While we wish that were true, en verite 80% of the hundreds of pit bulls seized and killed every year are hunted down because of a breed-specific ban; despite the fact that they are “nice, family dogs.” There is so much to celebrate in Chicago because unlike other cities, we are free to choose which four-legged loves become la famille. But this might not always be so if we allow the ugly discrimination of Breed Specific Legislation to creep into our beloved city.

So it is with TRUTH, BEAUTY, FREEDOM and LOVE that we invite all responsible dog owners and businesses to join us in our celebration. Interested, please contact us at ask@rebeccaeverlene.org to find out how to get involved.
